Dryburgh Enters New Era as Superintendent of Hillsboro Public Schools
The Hillsboro Public School Board met in regular session Thursday morning.
Former Hillsboro Elementary Principal, Jon Dryburgh, completed his first meeting as the district’s new Superintendent. Dryburgh says there’s certainly a learning curve, but he has plenty of lifelines to help him navigate the new position.
Dryburgh says he has received plenty of encouragement from around the district and beyond. He sums up one of those interactions.
While Dryburgh moves into the Superintendent role, the former elementary principal is excited to welcome his replacement, former Ada-Borup-West 5th Grade Teacher, Spencer Ruebke.
There were several procedural action items as it was not only Dryburgh’s first meeting, but the first meeting with new board members, Cody Kritzberger and Brad Ricther. Among the action items, the board discussed the 2024-25 preliminary budget. While there will likely be no mill levy increases, Dryburgh says with the loss of some funding, the next year will be a financial challenge.
The budget hearing is scheduled for September 12th. In similar action items, the board approved the 2022-2023 audit and ten cent increases to nearly all hot lunch items for the 24-25 school year.
