Ada A’s 6, Sabin Mets 4
Left-hander Ethan Opsahl struck out 15 batters and drove in three runs with a pair of hits as the Ada A’s finished League play Sunday with a 6-4 victory over the Sabin Mets at Tony Sipe Field.
After allowing a pair of unearned runs in the first inning, Ada got one back in the home half of the first on an Opsahl RBI single…then took the lead in the second as Opsahl singled home two more runs for a 3-2 A’s advantage.
A’s right fielder Keith Hanson singled home two more runs in the third inning for a 5-2 Ada lead. Sabin would score single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to cut the gap to 5-4. But a Mike Erickson sacrifice fly restored the A’s’ two run lead at 6-4.
Opsahl was 2 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBI. On the mound, he allowed 11 hits, 4 runs (one earned), no walks with 15 strikeouts in getting the complete game victory. Hanson, Beau Fetting and Beau Jorgenson each had two hits apiece for Ada.
Parker Jenske took the loss for Sabin. In 5 innings, he allowed 9 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), one walk, one wild pitch and one strikeout. TJ Hopkins threw 2 scoreless innings in relief for the Mets, while Dan Lyons allowed a run in his inning of work.
The A”s are now 12-7 overall and 8-5 in League play. They’ll host the Fargo Crows Wednesday night at 7:30 at Tony Sipe Field.
