Climax-Fisher improved to 8-9 on the season with a 25-21, 25-21, 27-25 victory over Win-E-Mac Thursday night in Fisher.
The game was scrappy and hard-fought. Climax-Fisher scored 6 straight points to break a 15-all tie in the first set en route to a 25-21 win. Then in the second set, back to back aces by the Patriots’ Paige Breitbach got Win-E-Mac to within 21-20. But a block and service ace both by Claire Erickson helped the Knights take the second set 25-21.
In set three Win-E-Mac jumped to leads of 10-4, 16-10 and 20-13. Climax-Fisher then scored 6 straight points to close the gap. The Patriots had two set points, but Climax-Fisher fought them off and scored a 27-25 win for the sweep.
Erickson had 8 kills, one solo block and 2 block assists, plus 2 aces for Climax-Fisher (8-9). The Knights served 9 aces on the night.
Neveah Simpson led Win-E-Mac (0-17) with 10 kills, with teammate Abigail Sauer adding 6.
Climax-Fisher plays at a tournament at Mahnomen-Waubun on Saturday; Win-E-Mac travels to Mahnomen-Waubun next Tuesday.
