Goodridge/Grygla 15 vs. Stephen/Argyle 12

Grygla, MN — The Goodridge/Grygla Chargers won an all time thriller at Darwin Hagen Field in Grygla on Thursday night over the Stephen/Argyle Storm 15-12.

In the first quarter, both teams gashed each other for large chunks of yards on the ground. Goodridge/Grygla had the first possession of the game and went 63 yards in six minutes capped off by a 2-yard Sebastion Groven rushing touchdown. 2-pt conversion was successful and the Chargers took the first lead 8-0. In the Stephen/Arygle opening drive, they would go 68 yards in four and a half minutes finished off by a 5-yard Blaine Smith rushing touchdown making it 8-6 G/G after an unsuccessful 2-pt conversion attempt. In the second quarter the only score came at the 5:53 mark by Stephen/Argyle via a 18 yard touchdown pass from Shay Setterholm to Caden Pagnac taking a 12-8 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was scoreless and it felt as though Stephen/Argyle had control with Goodridge/Grygla having a tough time moving the football. Goodridge/Grygla would have a chance at a game winning drive with about three minutes left to play. After a loss of 12 on a trick play attempt, a horse collar tackle against the Storm, and some hard nose running of the football, Goodridge/Grygla would find themselves facing a 4th down and 6 with the ball on the 50 and just 1:50 left to play. Goodridge/Grygla Sophomore Quarterback Landon Nordby would go back to pass and find Freshman Shay Jacobson down the right sideline for the 50 yard go-ahead touchdown leading 15-12 and leaving just 1:35 left for Stephen/Argyle to compose a game winning drive.

The Storm on their ensuing drive would take a deep shot that would be intercepted by Sawyer Jacobson of G/G sealing the victory for the Chargers 15-12. With the win, Goodridge/Grygla is 6-1 and will play their final game of the season next Tuesday at the Northern Freeze. For Stephen/Argyle, they drop their first game of the year, 6-1, and will be at home next Tuesday hosting Park Christian.
