Fertile, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons Boys Basketball Team escaped Tuesday night with a nail biting victory over Stephen-Argyle 61-49.

The Storm came out hot right away to start the game grabbing an early 12-6 lead. Fertile-Beltrami would go on a 9-2 run to take a 15-14 lead as the rest of the first half would be back and forth seeing Fertile-Beltrami take 29-25 lead into halftime. To begin the second half, the Falcons made another early run of 12-4 jumping out to their largest lead of the game 41-27. Just when it seem like Fertile-Beltrami took total control, Stephen-Argyle made another run to trip the deficit to single digits. Fertile-Beltrami controlled the lead for most of the second half forcing the Storm to chip away at the deficit in the late stages. Fertile-Beltrami led by three points when Storm Junior, Anders Thompson hit one of his 5 threes on the night to tie the game at 59 a piece. Fertile-Beltrami would have the basketball with 7 seconds remaining for the win, Falcons Junior Drew Gullickson grabbed an offensive rebound after Bryer Strem missed a running floater to take the two point lead and the win 61-59.

Fertile-Belrami improves to 5-1 on the season and Stephen-Argyle drops their fourth game in a row and falls to 1-4 overall. Both teams are off until after Christmas break.
