Pequot Lakes at St. Cloud Cathedral

After building a 2-0 match lead, the Pequot Lakes Patriots had to rally from an 11-0 deficit to complete the three-game sweep at St. Cloud Cathedral.

Big runs were part of the story all night. In the first set, the Patriots trailed 9-7 when they rattled off a 14-4 run to go up 21-13 on their way to a 25-17 win. In set two, a 11-3 run built an early 13-6 lead for the Patriots, who would eventually lead by nine at 18-9 and hang on for a 25-20 lead after St. Cloud Cathedral trimmed the lead to 2 at 22-20.

Cathedral, wanting to avoid the sweep, started red hot in the third scoring the first eleven points. It was 15-6 Crusaders when the Patriots turned it around. A 9-0 run put the Patriots up 16-15 and the two teams battled the rest of the way. Pequot Lakes prevailed 25-21.

Alexa Pietig starred with 10 assists, five kills and four blocks. Reese Laposky had six kills and three ace serves. Kate Arellano also had three aces for the Patriots, who are now 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the Granite Ridge Conference. Cathedral falls to 4-11, 3-3 in the GRC.
