Bagley 3 Win-E-Mac 2 (21-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-13, 15-11)

Bagley, MN — The Bagley Flyers defeated the Win E Mac Patriots 3-2 in a thrilling match of the Section 8A East Pig Tail Tournament Round on Monday night.

Win E Mac came out firing in set one taking a 9-3 lead after an early 6-0 run and that would prove to be the difference in the opener as Bagley would try to stage a comeback but the attempt would come up short 25-21 and Win E Mac would lead the match 1-0. Set two was truly back and forth as there would be 13 ties and 6 lead changes up to the 15-13 mark where Bagley would burn their first timeout down by two. From there, Win E Mac would never relinquish the lead, despite Bagley’s best efforts. Win E Mac would win set two 25-22 and lead the match 2-0. With their backs against the wall, Bagley would flip a switch and win the next two sets by double digits each, 25-15 and 25-13, to force a fifth and final set. In the fifth when Bagley had all the momentum, they lead early 4-0. But a run of six straight service points by Win E Mac’s Abigail Sauer, including four aces, would catapult Win E Mac to a 6-4 advantage. Back and forth once again the game went up to an 11-11 tie. Bagley would then close it out scoring the final four points and winning 15-11 and winning the match 3-2.

Bagley improves to 11-13 as the Flyers will move onto the next round of the Section 8A Volleyball Tournament and will be at #2 Seed Fertile-Beltrami on Wednesday (Gold 101.5 FM KRJM). For Win E Mac, their season comes to an end at 1-25 overall and will graduate nine seniors.
