Red Lake County vs. Mahnomen/Waubun

The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds took advantage of Red Lake County turnovers to win their 4th consecutive section 8A title 36-8.  THe game started as a defensive stale mate, but it was 4 first half turnovers from the RLC Rebels that gave Mahnomen Waubun a short field resulting in 2 scores for a 14-0 lead.  The Rebels would capatalize on a Mahnomen Waubun turnover before the half to make it a 14-8 game at the half.  The 2nd half belonged to the Thunderbirds as their offense would take control with a stout ground attack and a suffocating defense that would force more Rebel turnovers.  With the win Mahnomen Waubun is now 10-0 and will advance to the state football playoffs while RLC will end their season at 10-2.
