May-Port CG vs Cavalier – Region 2 Volleyball Tournament

The top seeded May-Port-C-G Patriots swept the #8 Cavalier Tornadoes in Monday’s ND Class B Region Two Girls Volleyball Tournament Quarterfinals: 25-16, 25-11, 25-22.

After evenly exchanging the first twenty points of the match, the Patriots found their rhythm, scoring 15 of the final 21 points of the first set to take the early lead. The Patriots jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the second set, and never looked back securing the 2-0 lead. The third set was competitive. Though the Patriots tried to pull away midway through the set, the Tornadoes hung with the Region Two regular season champs, as they trailed by just one (22-21) late. But MPCG notched three of the last four points of the match to get the sweep.

Six different Patriots recorded at least two kills, paced by Kylie Kroeplin with nine. Ava Kemnitz, Jocelyn Anderson, and Katy Jensen each reached five kills for the Tornadoes.

The Patriots move on to Tuesday’s semifinals, against Thompson, and improve to a 24-11 record in all competitions. Cavalier ends their season at 14-18.
