This past weekend, the Voyageurs Men’s Basketball had opened up their regular season this past weekend on the Mesabi Range Campus. After their Veteran’s day practice, I got to speak with Rodney Mozard and Braedon Gomez.

Much like their teammates in previous interviews, the two were asked what made them wanna commit to Rainy River.

So what kind of synopsis can they give us on Friday’s game against Sisseton on Friday?

Then, Coach Collins was asked for his analysis of the weekend games.

Rodney was one of the leaders with his statline shining with rebounds as he got 11 on Friday, and then got 10 more on Saturday in the 63-67 loss to Dakota College. So how does he find himself in the right position every time for these rebounds?

On the offensive side, Braedon was the leading scorer over the weekend with 13 off the bench against Sisseton. But he would truly shine against Dakota College with 23 points.

What is the biggest strength that Rodney and Braedon bring to the team?

After these first two games, they were asked what are some team goals and personal goals.

Coach Collins was asked about the self awareness his players show when they were talking about their goals.

But these players have all kinds of confidence in their abilities and greatly trust each other.

And I asked Coach Collins if there will be growing pains for the team in the beginning of the season.

So what stuck out to Coach Collins when watching his team play in regular season games?

So are there any teams they’re worried about?

Then, Coach Collins talked about the struggles with shooting and how he’s tackling those struggles this week.

He also talked about how the players aren’t deterred by the one loss on their record from Dakota College.

And how many games until the first Conference game?

Of course, winning the conference games are the first step to making it to Nationals.

Unfortunately, Srdan Vujnovic was injured over the weekend which will likely affect the starting lineup.

But is having a fluid starting lineup a possible strength?

He then talks about their next game on November 20th.

Of course, Rodney and Braedon had some shoutouts to give.
