Winter preparation reminders

Winter has officially arrived for residents across the Red River Valley, and with winter comes icy roads. With the arrival of snow Norman County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Douville reminds drivers to make sure they have a winter survival kit in every vehicle they drive during the winter, and he tells us what items you should consider having in your kit. 

If you do end up stranded on the side of the road Officer Douville says it’s important to stay in your car, and not try to walk somewhere for help. 

Your vehicle isn’t the only place you can get stranded in the winter, as blizzards can also leave people stranded for multiple days. For this reason Douville says it’s also important to make sure your homes are ready for winter as well.
