Jerome Martin scored with 11 seconds left in the game to lift the Northern Lakes Lightning to a 4-3 win over Southwest Christian/Richfield.

The game was tied at one after the first. The Stars’ Vinny Ferrera scored just 1:06 into the contest, and the Lightning’s Josiah Reier tallied his first goal of the year at the 11:26 mark to tie it up.

In the second, the Lightning grabbed the lead on Drew Paulbeck’s first goal of the evening at the 4:55 mark. Two Lightning penalties, including a five minute major gave SWCR a five-on-three advantage that they exploited. Tate Hardacre slammed home a one-timer to tie the game at two. The Lightning would regain the lead on a power play with Paulbeck’s second goal with only 43 seconds to go before intermission.

Halfway through the third, Hardacre found the back of the net again to tie the game at 3. With both teams using everything they had to find that go ahead goal, a scramble near the net caused the puck to bounce to Martin with an open net on the right side as the senior tapped in for the game winner.

The Lightning (6-3) outshot the Stars (4-5) 37-30. Sam Suja got the win in net for Northern Lakes.
