A Detroit Lakes business is one of nine in Minnesota that is receiving funding from the US Department of Agriculture to improve regional food systems.  Manna Food Cooperative of Detroit Lakes is receiving around $304,000 to create and outfit a new commercially licensed processing kitchen, buy processing equipment and expand food-grade storage capacity for the benefit of local producers. The processing kitchen at Manna Food Co-op in downtown Detroit Lakes will provide the processing capacity on-site to lightly process and store fruits and vegetables for member suppliers and give them the opportunities to generate value-added products for wholesale buyers, with an emphasis on Minnesota schools.  Minnesota has received nine and a half million dollars from the USDA for grants that will support the middle of the supply chain infrastructure.
