The Fosston Greyhounds overcame a ten point deficit in the second half and went on to defeat Mahnomen/Waubun 70-62 Thursday night in Fosston. The Greyhounds trailed 49-39 but went on a 16-2 run and took the lead for good at 53-51 with 6:58 left in the game. For the second straight game the Greyhounds had five players enter double digits in the scoring column. Kelton Gray led Fosston with 25 points as the Greyhounds picked up their fourth straight win and evened their overall record at 13-13. Will Christen and Ryne Duppong each added 12 points for Fosston with Mitchell Mulry adding 11 points and Jack Sekely 10 points for the Greyhounds. Ethan Jackson hit five 3 pointers and led Mahnomen/Waubun with 20 points. Gavin McArthur and Anthony Thompson each added 10 points for the Thunderbirds as they end their season at 8-17. The Greyhounds shot 11 of 27 at the free throw line while the Thunderbirds were 3 of 4 at the stripe. It was the second win for Fosston over Mahnomen/Waubun with the Greyhounds winning in the regular season 64-58 at Mahnomen/Waubun on December 9th. The Greyhounds will now face the Red Lake County Rebels in the Section 8A Quarterfinals in Thief River Falls on Saturday, March 8th (12:00 noon on 96.7 FM & Your Live Event). Red Lake County won at Fosston 74-35 on February 6th.
