Fast starts built the Henning Hornets a lead that they were able to hold onto down the stretch in their 62-58 win over the Park Christian Falcons. The Hornets were energized a the start of the game and opened the game leading 10-2. The Falcons found their successes to come back and trade leads before a three-pointer sparked the Hornets on a matching 10-2 run to close the half and lead 27-19 at halftime. The Hornets would score first after halftime to build a double digit lead and then cap a 15-5 run with another three-pointer for a 42-24 advantage with 13:42 remaining. The Hornets kept the pressure up to build their largest lead at 53-31 with just over five minutes remaining. The Falcons then attempted their comeback. with their defense not allowing the Hornets another field goal over the final five minutes of game time, the Falcon offense started to find the rim with a 13-0 run bringing the lead to single digits in the closing minutes. While the Hornets didn’t make shots from the field down the stretch, they were sent to the free throw line, making nine free throws to help keep the Falcons at bay and close out the game for the victory.
