Grafton turned a 2 point halftime lead into an 11 point lead after three quarters and the Spoilers held on to defeat Hillsboro/Central Valley 57-51 in the opening round of the Division A Region 2 boys basketball playoffs Monday at the University of North Dakota.
Grafton held an 18-16 halftime lead, but outscored the Burros 18-9 in the third frame. Kyler Droog scored 8 points for the Spoilers in the quarter with Brody Lillemoen and Reggie Rice adding 5 apiece.
The Spoilers (13-9) were led by Rice’s 22 points and 21 from Droog. Lillemoen added a dozen as Grafton defeated HCV for the third time this season.
Keithan Mueller led the Burros (8-14) with 14 points with Bryce Miller adding 12.
Grafton takes on defending Division A State Champions Devils Lake Tuesday evening in Grand Forks.
