Minnesota Fishing Opener Preview 

The Minnesota Fishing Opener is on Saturday, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is expecting over a half million people to participate on Minnesota’s many lakes and rivers. Northwest Minnesota Fisheries Supervisor Nathan Olson expects that this will be one of the nicest openers in state history. 

For many, this opener might be one of the first times they’ve ever been fishing, and Olson shares some tips to get you started on the right foot. 

Lastly, Olson highlights some area lakes that have performed well in surveys that are  expected to offer good fishing in 2025.
