Polk County facing budget questions with state funding cuts
There’s been a lot of talk in the Minnesota Legislature about budget cuts as a deficit looms, but this has left many budget questions for county commissions across the state. Polk County Commissioner Joan Lee says this is because the cuts aren’t really cuts, as local governments will be left with the bill for these programs previously funded by the state.
In other county news, Lee says the Sandhill Watershed District will begin doing ditch redeterminations.
Spring time is usually the start of construction season in Minnesota, and Lee says the county will be building a walking and biking trail project in Erskine, and taking bids for other projects.
Lee was a guest on the KKCQ Food for Thought Program, which airs weekdays at 8:45 AM on KRJB 106.5 FM.
