Ada-Borup-West scored 7 runs in the second inning on their way to a 15-5, 6 inning victory over Mahnomen-Waubun Wednesday afternoon in Ada.
Caspar Kritzberger and Austin McCraven both went 3 for 4 with a single, double and triple, and 3 runs scored for the Cougars (10-5), with McCraven driving in 3 runs and Kritzberger had one rbi. Ada-Borup-West also took advantage of 6 errors, 5 hit batters and 5 wild pitches.
With the game tied 2-2 after one inning, ABW scored 7 runs in the bottom of the second with McCraven delivering a 2 run single, rbi singles from Ames Fassino and Grant Kuball and a run scoring ground out by Braden Bueng.
Then with a 12-5 lead going into the bottom of the sixth, McCraven tripled, Fassino singled to drive in a run, Connor Nelson doubled to score Fassino, then with 2 out, Tyler Catlett singled to score Nelson with the game-ending run.
Braden Bueng (2-0) pitched a complete game victory for the Cougars, allowing 12 hits, 5 runs, one walk, one strikeout and 3 wild pitches.
Seth Hlubek took the loss for Mahnomen-Waubun (9-7). In an inning and a third, he allowed 7 hits, 9 runs (5 earned), 3 walks, with a hit batter, 2 wild pitches and a strikeout.
Easton Bevins and Tate Houdek both went 2 for 3 with an rbi for the Thunderbirds, with Zach Zima and his cousin Jack Zima also having 2 hits apiece for Mahnomen-Waubun.
Weather permitting, Ada-Borup-West will play at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Thursday, while Mahnomen-Waubun will travel to Fertile-Beltrami on Thursday.
