Sunny Resnick slugged a 2-run homer and Jake Osowski pitched 7 strong innings as they Ada A’s won their 8th straight game Sunday, defeating Fergus Falls 7-4 at Tony Sipe Field.
The A’s broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Austin McCraven singled, went to third on a single by Braiden Fetting, and came home on a delayed double steal when Braiden Fetting took off for second, McCraven came home with the first run of the game. Sunny Resnick followed that with a 2-run homer over the right field fence to give the A’s a 3-0 lead.
Fergus Falls got a run back in the top of the fourth, but in the bottom half of the inning, the A’s scored 3 more times. McCraven singled in two runs and later score on a Braiden Fetting single to make it a 6-1 game.
The teams exchanged runs in the fifth inning to make the score 7-2. Then the Hurricanes scored twice in the eighth inning off reliever Zephyr Resnick. But the A”s held on for a 7-4 victory.
Osowski threw 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, no walks and 6 strikeouts. In 2 innings, Zephyr Resnick allowed 4 hits and 2 runs with one strikeout. McCraven was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi. Oskowski and Beau Fetting were both 2 for 4 at the plate, while Braiden Fetting was 2 for 5.
Alex Hexum took the loss for Fergus Falls (8-5). In 3 1/3 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks, a hit batter, 2 wild pitches with 4 strikeouts. Carter Thielke pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing 5 hits, one run (0 earned runs), with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Darin Stanislawski pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning for the Hurricanes. Cather Tosten Mann was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi for Fergus Falls, while Austin Stanislawski hit a solo home run.
The Ada A’s improve to 11-5 on the year. They’ll look to add to their winning streak Wednesday night at Detroit Lakes.
