In the third quarter, HWC took possession at their own 20 yard line after a Thompson punt. Laber was hit as he was going to pass and the ball was knocked loose. On the last play of the third quarter, Danner intercepted a Laber pass to stop a Hornets drive and end the frame with Thompson still ahead 8-6.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Tommies’ Brady Ripplinger intercepted a tipped pass to give Thompson the ball at the HWC 39. Yon carried 5 straight times…with the last time being a 26 yard TD to make the score 14-6 with 1:16 to play. (The 2 point PAT was no good)
