Fertile, MN – The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons closed out the week on a high note, sweeping the Win-E-Mac Patriots 3-0. It was a strong bounce-back performance after falling in five sets to Park Christian on Tuesday.

The opening set was tightly contested early, with the teams trading points before Win-E-Mac grabbed its first lead at 7-6. Fertile-Beltrami, slow to start, quickly found its rhythm with an 8-2 run to go up 14-9 heading into the Patriots’ first timeout. From there, the Falcons controlled play, outscoring Win-E-Mac 11-2 the rest of the way to claim set one, 25-12.

Set two played out much the same. The Patriots again edged ahead in the opening rallies, but Fertile-Beltrami responded with another scoring burst, taking a 10-6 advantage at the first timeout and extending the margin to 17-9 by the second. The Falcons stayed in command to close out a 25-13 win.

The third and final set was all Falcons. Fertile-Beltrami stormed to a commanding 10-1 lead and never looked back, rolling to a 25-5 victory to complete the sweep.

With the win, Fertile-Beltrami improves to 8-3 on the season and will visit NCE/U-H next Tuesday. (GOLD 101.5 FM KRJM). Win-E-Mac drops to 2-8 and will look to regroup when they travel to Blackduck on Monday, the 22nd.
