Jayden Hanson threw 4 touchdown passes, 3 to Freddy Leistikow as Park Christian defeated Polk County West 33-12 Thursday night in East Grand Forks.
Hanson completed 24 of 32 passes for 385 yards and the 4 touchdowns. He also rushed 5 times for 37 yards.
Gavin Giese caught 8 passes for 102 yards and a TD, while brother Logan Giese ran 6 times for 50 yards and a touchdown and caught 6 passes for 88 yards.
After trailing 8-0 after one quarter, Polk County West got a turnover early in the second quarter on a Reez Eckherdt interception. From their own 33, the Thunder drove 67 yards in 17 plays, running 8:59 off the clock. Jace Motl scored on a one yard TD run. A missed try for point meant the Falcons still led 8-6 with 2:36 to go in the half.
Park Christian demonstrated its 2 minute offense as Hanson completed 4 of 4 passes on a 69 yard drive, with Leistikow catching the first of his 3 TDs from 29 yards. The Falcons led 14-6 at the half.
Park Christian took the second half kickoff and drove 58 yards in 7 plays with Logan Giese scoring on a one yard run, making the score 20-6.
Polk County West countered with Jaycer Davis scoring on a 58 yard burst. The try for point failed, making the score 20-12 in favor of Park Christian.
On the ensuing drive, the Falcons drove 63 yards in 5 plays, taking 1:57 off the clock. Hanson connecting with Leistikow on a 57 yard scoring play to make it 26-12, Falcons, after 3 quarters.
Park Christian finished the scoring in the fourth quarter. Logan Giese intercepted a Nick Satterlund pass at the Falcons’ 16 yard line. 6 plays and 84 yard later, the Falcons scored again on the third Hanson to Leistikow connection, covering ten yards. Zion Tofibam kicked the extra point to make the final score 33-12.
Polk County West had 330 yards of total offense compared to Park Christian’s 482.
Nick Satterlund completed one of 12 passes for 6 yards with one interception. Reez Eckherdt rushed 17 times for 98 yards for the Thunder with Davis gaining 69 yards on 5 carries with a touchdown and Motl gaining 49 on 13 carries.
