Shelly Grain Elevator Fire
SHELLY, MN—The Shelly Grain Elevator was destroyed by a fire early Friday morning. Firefighters from across the region were called to the scene at 5:16am. Crews from Shelly, Ada, Hillsboro, Twin Valley, Fertile, Fisher, Gary, Perley, Hendrum, Halstad, Moorhead, Grandin, Borup, Beltrami, Buxton, Waubun, Climax and rural East Grand Forks responded to the fire. Norman County Engineer Keith Berndt says he is grateful for that response.
No one died from the fire and there have been no injuries reported. With the power going out in Shelly, Norman County Public Information Officer Liz Brainard was asking for generators. She was asked if generators are still needed.
US Highway 75 has been closed through Shelly since the early morning. Berndt was asked when the highway might re-open.
