The Pequot Lakes Patriots persevered with a 27-24 victory over the Duluth Denfeld hunters Friday night in Duluth. The Patriots fell behind 9-0 after a Hunters Safety and touchdown, but rallied back to score on a 5 yard TD run by Tade Magnuson. After completing the 2pt conversion to cut the lead to 9-8 at the beginning of the second quarter the Patriots overwhelmed the hunters offensive line for a safety of their own for their first lead at 10-9. Late in the second quarter a Griffin Hannah TD run extended the Patriots lead to 17-9 . The Hunters would rally in the final minute of the half to send both teams to the half tied at 17. The Hunters marched down the field on their opening drive of the second half to take a 24-17 lead. Their lead was short lived as Jobey Tvedt took the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a Patriot touchdown with the extra point knotting things up at 24. The score would remain there following a big 4th and 1 stop by the Patriot defense on their own 10 yard line in the middle of the 4th quarter. The Patriots would drive 68 yards to the Hunter 22, over 6:30 to setup Tollef Birkeland for a 39 yard game winning field goal with :56 to play. The Patriots held off the Hunters on their final drive to secure a 27-24 victory moving to 4-0 on the season.
