Choosing A Nickname For Grand Forks’ Northwoods League Softball Team

The Northwoods Softball League, a summer league for college softball players expanding into Grand Forks in 2026, has announced the finalists for the new team’s name.

With over 200 submissions, the team announced six finalists for the name. Flying Aces, Spitfires, Spudniks, Sweet Beets, Voodoo, and Wingnuts.

Voting on these six finalists is open now on the team’s website. https://northwoodsleague.com/grand-forks-softball/team-name-contest-voting/ The winning name, along with the official logo, will be unveiled at an event at Albrecht Field in October.
