What is ALICE Training, and why is it being taught in area school?
Recent events like the school shooting at a Catholic School in Minneapolis, have made schools think more about school safety, and one acronym you’re hearing schools mention is a training program called ALICE. This has caused parents and community members to have questions about this training as it’s not well known outside of a school setting. Norman County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Nikle is an ALICE instructor, and he explains what this program is, and what the first couple letters in ALICE stand for.
Nikle also explains what the C and E stand for in ALICE.
Nikle explains the biggest differences between ALICE, and the traditional response that schools have had to active shooter lockdowns in the past.
Nikle explains how teachers, and other staff members at schools are taught ALICE, and what the training process looks like.
You can learn more about Alice by contacting your local law enforcement office, or going to the official ALICE website at www.alicetraining.com. You can listen to the full conversation with officer Nikle during the KRJB Kaleidoscope on Monday morning at 9:00 AM on 106.5 FM.
