Cherry vs Fertile-Beltrami
Recap
Fertile, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami Falcons put together an impressive win over the #7 ranked Cherry Tigers going wire to wire in the 73-47 victory.
The Falcons came out hot shooting the basketball. Starting with 6’8 Senior Drew Gullickson, who usually dominates on the inside, stepped out for two first half threes and that helped build a 22-7 lead. The Falcons defensive intensity was turned all the way up. They needed to be solid on that end of the floor in order to slow down Cherry’s Noah and Isaiah Asuma, both 2,000 point career scorers. While Isaiah Asuma had a team high 24 points, there was a lid on the basket most of the night for the Tigers as they could only must four made 3-pointers and their second lowest scoring output of the season. (lowest 41 points vs. Esko 1/6).
The Falcons would lead by double figures for most of the night and would take the win 73-47. For Fertile-Beltrami it is their 13th win in a row improving to 15-1. They’ll get ready to host the Park Christian Falcons, a preview of the Pine to Prairie Conference Championship, next Monday. For Cherry, they fall to 14-4 and will play at Red Lake Saturday.
