Park Christian vs Fertile-Beltrami

Fertile, MN — The Park Christian Falcons Boys Basketball Team pulled off a nice Pine to Prairie Conference win on Monday night beating the Fertile-Beltrami Falcons 64-53.

It was Fertile-Beltrami, who was riding high after beating Cherry last Friday, jumping out to a 14-0 lead early. And while it took Park Christian seven and a half minutes to even muster their first points, they had no panic in them and used a 13-1 run that cut the first half deficit to two. Park Christian would never lead in the first half but considering the early hole, they were satisfied with going into halftime only down 33-29.

The second half was a different story. Instead of Park Christian fighting for their lives to stay in the game, they would put Fertile-Beltrami up against the ropes and forced them into 14 second half turnovers. Park Christian was led by Gavin Giese who had 13 of hist 20 points in the second half. Fertile-Beltrami had a difficult time getting clean passes and looks inside and their outside game didn’t provide any relief as they went 0-11 from three point land in the second half. Park Christian outscored Fertile-Beltrami 35-20 in the second half and won the game 64-53.

With the win, Park Christian improves to 15-3 on the season and will host Mahnomen/Waubun Tuesday night. For Fertile-Beltrami, the loss snaps their 13 game winning streak. They will play next on Thursday when they travel to Nevis to play the Tigers.
