The Win-E-Mac Patriots trailed by two points at halftime but pulled away late in the game and defeated the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears 69-61 at the Win-E-Mac Gym. The game was tied at 53-53 with 5:40 remaining in the game but the Patriots would take the lead for good at 55-53. Joe Courneya scored 26 points and was a perfect 9 for 9 at the free throw line as the Patriots avenged a loss to the Bears earlier in the season at the Fosston Holiday Tournament. Courneya scored 9 points in the first half but scored 17 in the second half. Hayden Johnson scored 22 points and pulled down 7 rebounds for the Patriots as they improve 8-10 overall. Grant Engen led the Bears with 18 points as Clearbrook-Gonvick suffered their seventh straight loss and falls to 4-12 overall. Carver Kroulik hit three 3 pointers for the Bears and ended up with 13 points in the game with Avery Ostenaa and Ryan Gerlofs each scoring 9 points for the Bears. Free throws played a big role in the outcome as the Patriots shot 17 for 23 at the line and Bears were 4 for 10 at the stripe. There was no “B” Squad game played.
