Northern Lakes at Sartell

In a possible section championship preview, #3 ranked Sartell staved off #17 Northern Lakes 3-2.

The Sabres struck first as Devin Jacobs backhanded a shot past Lightning goalie Sam Suja unassisted 5:17 into the first period. The Lightning answered at the 7:41 mark with a Jacob Peterson goal assisted by Griffin Hannah and Sutton Sullivan and it was 1-1 after the first.

Sartell tallied a pair of goals in the second period, the first from Jacobs again just 46 seconds into the frame. Preston Daregisch and Brayden Klande assisted. 8:55 into the period the Sabres scored the eventual game-winner as Vaughn Hilger zipped one past Suja, assisted by Isaac Mentzer. Suja made a couple of remarkable saves to keep the lead at only two.

Trailing 3-1 entering the third, the Lightning were strived for another comeback. Parker Fulton scored at the 6:41 mark, with assists to Sullivan and Kyler Rikala. However, the Lightning could not complete the rally as the Sabres held on for the 3-2 win.

Sartell outshot the Lightning 37-22. Each team was 0-1 on the power play. Sartell wins their 12th straight, going to 21-3 while Northern Lakes is now 12-10-1.
