It was a tale of two halves, East Grand Forks had an early 4-2 lead, but that would be the last time the would hold the lead in the first half. Both teams struggled to score in the first quarter as Thompson would hold an 11-10 lead. The Tommies started the 2nd quarter strong by jumping on a 10-2 run to give them their biggest lead of the game of 9. The Green Wave were able to trim into that deficit before the break though and cut it down to just 3 points, 25-22.
Points may have been hard to come by in the first half, but that wasn’t the case for the 3rd quarter. The Tommies scored first, but then that’s when the 3 point party began for the Green Wave. They hit 6 threes, 3 of which came from Carson McDonald, in the 3rd quarter and scored 5 more points than they did in the whole first half. East Grand Forks outscored Thompson 27-15 in the quarter to give them a 9 point lead going into the final quarter. The two teams went back and forth in the 4th early on, but the Green Wave would slowly pull away down the stretch and secure the 12 point win.
East Grand Forks has now won 7 straight games and have won 12 of their last 13 games. They’re now 19-5 on the year. Thompson falls to 8-10.
East Grand Forks also won the JV game 54-49.
