Devils Lake vs Grafton – Region 2A Girls Basketball Tournament

The first 5 points of the game belonged to Grafton, which forced a quick timeout from Devils Lake. Off the timeout, the Firebirds got their first bucket and settled back in. The two teams would go back and forth until it was tied up at 11. That’s when the game drastically changed. Devils Lake ramped up the defensive pressure and forced a bunch of turnovers, which lead to a lot of transition buckets. The Firebirds ended the quarter on a 12-0 run to go up 23-11. It didn’t stop there as they would score the first bucket of the second quarter to make it a 14-0 run before Grafton would score. Following that bucket Tylie Brodina caught fire from behind the arc and sparked a gigantic 17-0 run for a total of a 31-2 run to make it 42-13. The halftime score would end up being 44-16.

From there Devils Lake hit the coast button and held a 20-28 point lead throughout the remainder of the game. In the 3rd quarter both teams scored 16 points. In the 4th quarter the Spoilers outscored the Firebirds 15-7, but by that point both teams had cleared the benches.

Devils Lake will now take on Thompson in game 2 of the semifinals round tomorrow.
