Devils Lake vs Four Winds/Minnewaukan – Region 2A Girls Basketball Tournament

Devils Lake started strong in this win or go home 3rd place game in Region 2A as they got up quickly 6-0. Four Winds/Minnewaukan answered right back and took the lead after a 7-0 run immediately after. Then after going back and forth the two teams were stuck at 13-13 for 2 minutes before the Firebirds finally broke the tie. It turned into a 12-2 run to end the half which included a 7-0 run at the very end of the first half to give the Firebirds a 25-15 lead at the half.

The Lady Indians got it within 7 early in the 3rd, but that’s as close as it would get. Devils Lake then went on a 8-0 run, which including 2 Tylie Brodina triples, to make it a 15 point lead. Devils Lake would continue to slowly balloon there lead up to 20 by the end of the 3rd, 43-23. Four Winds/Minnewaukan’s Suri Gourd got her offense rolling in the 4th by getting to the free throw and hitting two 3-pointers as well and she brought her Lady Indians within 14, but it was too late of an effort as the Firebirds would close it out to move on to the State Qualifiers.
