It was a 0-0 game with 9:35 left in the first half but the Win-E-Mac Patriots had just enough offense to pull off the 29-20 win over Clearbrook-Gonvick in the Section 8A Pigtail game at Win-E-Mac. Lauren Kaupang broke the ice with a three pointer to give the Patriots a 3-0 lead. The Bears would score their first points on a bucket from Sarah Imle with 8:11 remaining in the first half. The Patriots never trailed in the game but the Bears did draw to within 22-18 in the second half. Kaupang led the Patriots with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Clara Kolden added 10 points and 4 boards for Win-E-Mac as they improve to 6-21 overall. Savanah Kumpula led the Bears with 10 points (2 three pointers) as they end their season at 3-22. Joely Olson pulled down 13 rebounds for Clearbrook-Gonvick. The Patriots defeated the Bears 60-10 back on November 21st so this rematch was much closer. The Patriots will play at Kelliher/Northome in the next round on Thursday, February 26th.
