Pequot Lakes at at Mesabi East

A 17-0 first half run helped lift the Pequot Lakes Patriots back to the 7AA semifinals with a 63-40 win over Mesabi East’s Giants.

It was the second straight year these two met in the quarterfinal round, and the Patriots once again ended the season for the Giants. Chelby Wothe had the hot hand for Pequot Lakes, scoring a game-high 30 that included six three-pointers.

Alexa Pietig tallied 18 for the Patriots while Marta Forsline lead Mesabi East with 25. Pequot Lakes committed only four turnovers in the game while forcing 25 on the Giants.

The Patriots are 19-9 and face Crosby-Ironton in the semifinals Tuesday. Mesabi East ends their year at 22-6.
