Hillsboro Central Valley never trailed in the game, defeating the #1 Ranked Four Winds Minnewaukan Indians on Friday night for an important regular season region victory. The Burros jumped out with energy, taking a 16-5 lead over the Indians in the first quarter. The lead stretched to 12 points, and slipped to five points in the second quarter, but a late bucket gave the Burros a 28-22 halftime lead. The pressure intensified in the third quarter but the Burros weathered the storm, and held a 39-34 lead heading into the fourth quarter, which saw the Indians get within one point with 3:38 to play, but free throws, rebounds, defense and late game situations gave the Burros the edge at the end, as Marial Deng’s shot at the buzzer went off the back of the rim, and Hillsboro Central Valley would hand Four Winds Minnewaukan their first loss in the region, and their first loss since December 20th, snapping a 17 game win streak, 51-48 the final score.
