Battle Lake at Ada-Borup-West

The Ada-Borup-West Cougars never trailed in the game with a 85-52 victory over the Battle Lake Battlers in their opening round of playoff basketball. After the score was tied at 5-5 in the opening minutes the Cougars defense would hold the Battlers to just four total points over eight-minutes of game time for a 30-9 lead with seven minutes remaining in the half. The Battlers would start the second half with increased physicality to eat into the 40-23 halftime score, but would manage to get no closer than 13 points after halftime. With a balanced Cougar offense (seven players scored at least 6-points, with four in double figures) that also did not give the ball away (only seven turnovers in the game) the Battlers were not able to keep pace with the Cougars pulling away by ending the game outscoring the Battlers 30-10 over the last eight minutes of the game.

Battle Lake will end their season with a 6-21 overall record and graduate one Senior. The #12 seeded Cougars improved to 14-13 overall and will face #5 seeded Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Thursday night.
