The 2026 season is right around the corner for the Rainy River Community College softball team, and three sophomore leaders say chemistry and competition are the big focus heading into the spring. Taniya Hamilton, a first baseman from Marshall, Texas… Regan Hanson, a pitcher from Preston, Idaho… and Bailey Castillo, an infielder from Gibson, Colorado… say the early weeks of practice have been all about sharpening the little things.

The Voyageurs are preparing for a spring trip to South Carolina, where they’ll see new competition and enjoy a break from the Borderland winter.

The trip isn’t just about wins and losses — it’s also about finding the right lineup combinations before conference play begins.

Once they return, key matchups with Itasca and Central Lakes are already circled on the calendar as conference play heats up. As sophomores, the trio says leadership is about connection and positivity.

And individually, there are goals in mind as well.
