Blackduck at Mahnomen/Waubun

Recap

The Mahnomen Waubun Thunderbirds used a 23-3 run in the second half to overcome a 2 point halftime deficit and come away with a 86-57 win over Blackduck.  The Thunderbirds started strong opening the game on a 17-2 run, but the Drakes would start to hit shots and force Thunderbird turnovers to tie the game at 19 and from there the half would go back and forth with 7 ties and 9 lead changes.  The Drakes would trail by 1 with just seconds remaining in the half when Evan Anderson would drain a half court shot to take the lead.  In the 2nd half the Thunderbirds would step up their defense forcing the Drakes into several turnovers totaling 41 for the game which would lead to easy buckets for Mahnomen Waubun giving them the win and advancing them in the Section 8A playoffs at 16-11, while Blackduck ends their season at 5-23 graduating no seniors.
