EGF Sacred Heart vs. Northern Freeze
Northern Freeze advanced to the Section 8A boys basketball quarterfinals Thursday with a 54-53 win over Sacred Heart at the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
Sacred Heart’s Nathan Kaiser was fouled trying to shoot a 3 with 2.7 seconds to play and the Eagles trailing 54-51. Kaiser made the first two free throws to make it a one point game. Northern Freeze then called a time out. Kaiser returned to the line with a chance to tie the game….but missed the free throw and the game ended in the Northern Freeze’s favor 54-53.
Blair Moen led Northern Freeze (16-9) with 17 points, Avynn Ryba added 11 and Alex Bray 10.
Kaiser led Sacred Heart (17-10) with 17 points with Nick Satterlund adding 13.
Northern Freeze will face Mahnomen-Waubun Saturday at noon in Thief River Falls in the 8A quarterfinals.
