A goal six seconds into the second period broke a scoreless time and set the momentum for the rest of the game as the #6-seed Northern Lakes Lightning fell in the State Class A Quarterfinals 5-0 to #3-seed Warroad.

Gavin Anderson broke on a Lightning pass, stealing it and firing a quick wrist shot past goalie Sam Suja to start the second period with a big boost for the Warriors. Ryan Shaugabay scored later in the period to send Warroad into the locker room with a 2-0 lead after two.

The Lightning tried to surge in the third period, and had a few great opportunities throughout the game, but ultimately couldn’t flip the momentum. Northern Lakes had to take some chances that lead to more chances for Warroad and the Warriors pulled away.

Warroad outshot the Lightning 44-24. Sam Suja made 39 saves in net for the Lightning.

The Lightning fall to 17-11-1 and will play in the consolation bracket.
