Red Lake County vs. Stephen-Argyle

Thief River Falls, MN — The Red Lake County Rebels are the Section 8A Boys Basketball Champions after beating the Stephen-Argyle Storm 68-52 on Friday night.

The Rebels would go wire-to-wire with the win but it didn’t come easy. The Storm kept the deficit within striking distance for the majority of the first half. Red Lake County went on an 11-0 scoring burst with three minutes before halftime to go in front by fifteen points. Stephen-Argyle would score the final two baskets of the first half to make it 39-28 at the break.

In the second half Stephen-Argyle came out hot. The Storm would score the first seven points to cut the lead to just four forcing a Red Lake County timeout. Out of the break the Rebels would use an 18-4 scoring run to push their lead back to double digits 57-39 with about six minutes to play. That deficit would prove to be the difference as the Storm would get back to within a dozen but the hole was too deep to climb out of. The Rebels close out and win the game 68-52.

Red Lake County has won their second consecutive Section 8A Basketball Championship. The Rebels will take a 28-3 record into the State Class A Boys Basketball Tournament which begins Thursday March 26th.
