St. Paul, MN — The Red Lake County Rebels finished fourth in the Class A Boys State Basketball Tournament after falling 79–67 to the Henning Hornets on Saturday morning.
The matchup was tight from the opening tip. The first half featured six ties and seven lead changes, with neither team able to create separation. The Rebels held the largest lead of the half, six points, when they took a 36–30 advantage into the locker room.
Henning came out strong after halftime, scoring the first five points to trim the deficit to one. The second half mirrored the first in intensity, producing eight more ties and nine additional lead changes. With just over four minutes remaining, the Hornets edged ahead 64–63 and never surrendered the lead again. Senior standout Kale Misegades powered the late surge, scoring 25 of his 41 points in the second half. Henning’s efficiency at the free‑throw line sealed the outcome, as the Hornets went 15‑for‑18 after halftime and shot 85% from the stripe for the game.
Henning concludes its season at 32–1, earning third place at State. Red Lake County closes the year 29–5, securing fourth place in the tournament. The Rebels will graduate eight seniors from this year’s team.
