Approximately 80,000 car accidents are reported in Minnesota each year, and for many drivers who are involved in them, they often don’t know what to do afterwards. R&J News recently talked with Fosston Police Chief Phil Juve, who says your initial response to a crash should depend on the severity of it.

Juve says if you’re able to do so safely, you should also move your vehicle to the side of the road, and stay in your vehicle until help arrives.

Juve says it’s also important that you stay at the scene of the accident, whether you’re directly involved or a witness.

If you’re unsure of what to do after being involved or witnessing an accident, the best thing you can do is call 911.
