Senator John Hoeven talks agriculture

April 1, 2026 Farm News News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

The Farm Bill is expected to be a major topic of discussion once the House and Senate return from Easter break, but it is still unknown whether or not a bill will be passed. US Senator John Hoeven (R-North Dakota) says one piece of ag legislation he will be pushing for is a year round E-15 Waiver.

While he’s thankful for the Farm Bridge Assistance Program, Hoeven says more work needs to be done on the program to further expand it.

Like most crop markets, the sugar industry is also seeing its fair share of issues, and Hoeven says he’d like to see the tier two tariff changed to help the sugar industry.

Fertilizer costs are also having a major effect on producers in the Red River Valley, and Hoeven says more fertilizer needs to be made, and he’s hopeful that North Dakota can be the state that leads the way.
