Cell phones are engrained in our everyday life nowadays, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to put your phone down when driving, or face the consequences. Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman says they are in the midst of a Toward Zero Death Distracted Driving Campaign, which means they will be doing extra distracted driving enforcement.

While cell phones are one of the most common distractions when driving, Tadman says there are other things that could count as distracted driving.

On top of staying focused while behind the wheel, Tadman says it’s just as important to follow the car in front of you at a safe distance.
