Severe Weather Awareness Week Begins Monday
Today marks the beginning of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota. Today’s focus is on alerts and warnings. A watch is issued when conditions are favorable for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and flash floods. If you’re in a watch area, be ready to seek shelter if necessary. A warning is issued when severe weather has been reported or is imminent. If a warning is issued, you should seek shelter immediately.
The highlight of Severe Weather Awareness Week will be Thursday, when the Statewide Tornado Drills will be held. Norman County Emergency Management Director Garry Johanson tells us more about the tornado drills.
The tornado sirens will sound on Thursday for both drills….at 1:45pm and 6:45pm Thursday.
