New Minnesota School Bus laws in effect
Earlier this year, the State of Minnesota updated their traffic laws when it comes to stopping for school buses during pick up and drop off. Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman gives us a rundown of these updated rules.
Tadman says children can be very unpredictable when it comes to traffic safety, so it’s best that drivers pay attention to the road, and for parents to install the proper safety habits in their children.
In Minnesota, punishment for failing to stop for a school bus include fines that can range up to to $1,000 for a first offense, while repeat offenders may face increased fines and potential misdemeanor charges. Drivers may also receive points on their driving record, impacting insurance rates.
