Thompson vs Larimore – Region 2 Baseball Tournament

BSB Thompson 5, Larimore 4 (8 innings)
Grady Hurst’s single in the eighth inning broke a 4-4 tie and gave Thompson a 5-4 victory over Larimore Saturday in an elimination game in the Region 2B baseball tournament at Mayville State University.
Larimore had taken a 2-0 lead with single runs in the third and fourth innings. Then in the bottom of the fourth, Thompson took the lead when Kaden Loiland scored on a wild pitch and Joe Taylor and Jacob Olson had rbi singles to make the score 3-2.
The Polar Bears regained the lead in the sixth inning when Carson Howard singled in a run and later scored on a balk to go in front 4-3. In the bottom of the sixth, Olson singled to score Gavin Oster to tie the game at 4.
In the eighth inning, Taylor led off with a triple. After one out, Hurst singled to left to keep the Tommies alive in the tournament.
Dex Avdem was the winning pitcher for Thompson (13-6), going 8 innings, allowing 7 hits, 4 runs (0 earned), with 3 walks and 13 strikeouts. Olson was 3 for 4 with 2 rbi.
Baron Burns pitched a complete game, allowing 9 hits, 5 runs (4 runs), 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Burns was 2 for 3 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in.
Thompson, the four time defending State Class B champions, will play May-Port-CG Monday in the semifinals Monday at Mayville State.
